Title: Good Ethernet cable manufacturers
Post by: michty_me on August 18, 2018, 09:04:08 AM
I'm looking at the possibility of pulling in several Ethernet cables through my house when I'm getting carpets replaced and creaking floorboards sorted.
Can someone suggest a good cable manufacturer of Cat5e (assume that will be sufficient for a home network) cable. I read on here to avoid CCA cable is that correct? Also, some well made wall sockets for terminating into would be good to know also.

CAT5e is perfectly adequate for home use in my opinion and will be for years to come. You would be correct to avoid CCA.

I've used cabling4less  (http://www.cabling4less.co.uk/category.php?cat_id=159)in the past.

As for modules, I've used various sources over the years, don't think I've had a problem, just make sure you get a proper punch down tool.

PS. I personally prefer the flat face plates/modules, the ones cabing4less do are raised.

Hi Ronski.
Great, thanks for the point in the right direction. Appreciate it!
I'll have a look on their website during my lunch break.

I have used a lot of both internal and external cat5e from datazone direct via eBay as I laid it myself. Quick delivery and I have had no issues with the cable at all.

Thanks Sky, will have a look at their adverts. I'll just be requiring internal cabling hopefully. I'll go have a look at their listings.

From what I've found, it appears datazones stuff is CCA. The stuff on cabling4less states it's solid copper cores.

Edit: UTP is what I need after reading a few articles.

Just found that posting. Ill look on their store page as I might be able to find some solid core internal cable. Thanks.

I've managed to buy a full reel of Cat5e cable manufactured by excel networking for £45 delivered. Should see me a good few runs out of that
