A couple of times today at about 15:30 I posted a message and got this response:
Database Error
Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.
In both cases the message had been posted successfully.

That's happened to me too.
-
Yes, had that three or four times as well.
The gremlins are restless today.
-
I've had nothing like that, BUT I have found the site extremely sluggish over the past 10 mins ..... I've checked on other sites to see if it's me, but it only happens on here ..... I'm very patient though :D
-

Thanks guys.
I couldnt manage to recreate the errors - nor could I see anything on the current server status....
But Ive just been on the phone to my hosts to see if they were aware of any problems.
Apparently someone was moving a huge amount of files around on the server earlier (nothing to do with this site) which may have been causing some problems with the database. My hosts became aware that it was causing some slowdowns and have now stopped this proceedure (about 30 mins ago), which is probably why I cant recreate it now.
They have said that all should be ok now - but if there are any further problems to please let them know.
Is everyone else ok now too?
-
Whatever it was, it seems to have gone away.
-
Hopefully. :)
-
No problems here.

Is everyone else ok now too?
How long do we get to answer that?

Speedy as ever now ..... the storm must have cleared the pipes :D ...Thanks for the info.

Good stuff :D

Naw they stopped moving around what-ever they were doing. Ive noticed some upgrades on internal software (eg php/ cpanel) over the past few weeks, so not totally sure what they are up to.
........... which reminds me - I need to do an update on the forum software - so may have to take the forums out of service for a while later tonight.

Heh no-one noticed
and touch wood the upgrade went without a hitch....
although the only thing I do notice now is that the preview pane has gone to grey :D

Yea, I noticed that when I posted my last item.
It had me looking all over the place looking for the tool to re-set the background colour, but couldn't find it so left it as it was.
By the way, it's still grey.

I've no idea why they changed the default preview panel to grey.
Ive customised a fair bit of the forum software in the past but haven't ever bothered with changing any of the default posting background colours.
So it would appear that that it was just part of the upgrade.. maybe to make it different from the posting window and the posts below?
I Dunno - but it is something that I noticed soon after the upgrade.

Providing it does not have any other bad effect on the site I don't think it matters, and everything seems to be ok from my end.
PS.
Thanks for the VM topic.
