Post by: St3 on June 14, 2018, 02:02:20 PM

ST3, it depends in part on how deep you pockets are to pay ridiculous charges. Everyone can get FTTP if they win the lottery. However to try to answer your question more usefully, I would say that in a way it might be the reverse of what you said. Could it be that if FTTC is there already then FTTP is more doable because part of the infrastructure is already present? Can anyone set me right on this?

You can look it up in the bit adsl checker for a start, or ask an ISP with clue. Asking for an ethernet leased line over fibre optic cable might be cheaper than so-called FTTPoD (FTTP-on-demand) which is so expensive and less capable than alternatives that there seems to be no point in even offering it. There was a thread about FTTPoD only the other day in fact.

It depends on the current FTTC speeds.
Some areas that get less than SuperFast targets are having BDUK fund FTTP to take them above that target.

If speeds are above 24Mb/s then OpenReach FTTP is unlikely anytime soon.
