Title: Geolocation gone insane (again)
Post by: Weaver on June 12, 2018, 09:56:59 AM
I wonder if it is possible to report insane geolocation data to the companies who have put together big geolocation databases?

Anyone who is a customer of Andrews and Arnold, the ISP, aa.net.uk, sees insane geolocation about where AA lives at, sometimes Southend on Sea, occasionally Croydon (-ish) but usually some village in Nottinghamshire called “Arnold". So it is either just a data entry cockup created by a human’s typing or misreading, or else it’s a simple parsing-related bug - some software somewhere cannot cope with the idea of ISPs who have names that contain whitespace or perhaps they have seen it entered with an “&” character and have then utterly freaked out at the sight.
