Title: Does anyone recommend a good password exporter for firefox?
Post by: Bowdon on May 17, 2018, 11:49:18 AM
I'm looking to swap my dads laptop for my old desktop PC. I did a clean install of windows 10 and I'm in the process of setting it up.

Now I'm at the web browser stage and realised my old password exporter addon doesn't work since FF changed the way addons are programmed. The old password exporter would create either a spreadsheet file or a password file that I could import on the other computer (as long as I had the password exporter installed there too).

So I'm wondering does anyone have a way to export and import passwords in the recent versions of FF ?

If you create a Firefox account you can turn on Logins in the Sync Settings. Fire up Firefox on the new PC and log in to the Firefox account. All the logins should transfer over.
You don't need an add on!

If you use Waterfox instead of Firefox (it's a fork of Firefox to maintain the old extensions code) then the Password Exporter still works. Waterfox looks practically identical and I've been using it now for several months.

Mozbackup may be another option:

No longer being developed but still worked when I used it recently.
