Title: ZyXEL VMG3925-B10B doesn't connect to the Internet
Post by: hushcoden on December 31, 2017, 12:45:42 AM
I've been eventually able to log in as supervisor (many thanks again to the user J0hn for providing the password ), deleting ROM-D, disabling TR-69, etc. but it seems the modem is not able to get Internet working: I get an error message when I click on the icon "Connection Status", althoguh if I click on the right arrow "Status" I see I get an IP address from my ISP (Sky) - but I am not able to surf the Internet  ???

Any suggestions about what it could be wrong?

The settings (the standard ADSL settings for Sky) are exactly the same of my other modem, a VMG1312-B10A, which it connects without problems...

Thanks.

If you are getting an IP address allocated but can't surf then perhaps DNS is not set up right.
You could test this by pinging www.google.com (which will need DNS) from a command prompt.
If that fails then try pinging 8.8.8.8 (googles DNS server) - if that works then you have connectivity but DNS isn't configured right.

Oh yes you were right  I changed the DNS settings from static (OpenDNS) to ISP and it works...

So next question is: how come I cannot use my own DNS servers? Does it mean I have to stick with the DNS servers from Sky?

That's a good question as it sounds like it should work.
DNS is setup on both the WAN and LAN side - have you done that?
