Title: Zyxel VMG8924 B10A 2.4ghz Wifi issue
Post by: Leedsstuart on November 13, 2017, 07:25:18 PM
Hi I have a problem with the wifi on the router. The 5ghz wifi is fine but the 2.4ghz is not working. Router says it is on on the lights and in the admin options but no devices can see it at all.

I have tried everything I can think of to get it going to no avail. Anyone familiar with this issue ?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Kitz forum.  :)

From what you have described, it appears that the VMG8924-B10A is not broadcasting its station ID. That is not something I have come across before.

Is the device new or is a second-hand purchase? If the former, you could possibly return it for a refund.

The only other suggestion that I can make is to perform a full factory reset of the device.

I assume that the "hide SSID" option is not ticked ?

Can a 2.4 Ghz connection be obtained by directly entering the SSID & PW on any device regardless of the router not being visable to the actual device ?
(as would be expected if SSID display option was not active)

Performing a "factory reset" as b*cat advises should revert SSID display to default "on" option.

Hi

Thanks for the replies. SSID is on and it will not connect on any device at all.

I assume it is just simply not broadcasting. I have gone to my Isp to see if they will replace as it is less than 6 months old so should have some kind of warranty.

Fingers crossed.

OK, Looks very much like you have a faulty unit, good luck with the replacement from your ISP, let the forum know the outcome as always useful for future reference.
