Post by: syfer on September 26, 2017, 02:25:16 PM
Hi so I am on adsl 2 line and here are the speeds that I can get from bt cabinet. Ok so
Downstream Line Rate(Mbps)
VDSL Range A (Clean)
High
56.7
Low
40.5

Upstream Line Rate(Mbps)
VDSL Range A (Clean)
High
15.5
Low
10.1

Downstream Handback Threshold(Mbps)
36.8

VDSL Range B (Impacted)
High
44
Low
25

VDSL Range B (Impacted)
Upstream Line Rate(Mbps)
High
12.7
Low
6

Downstream Handback Threshold(Mbps)

Based on this I want to try Fibre Broadband but I want to know which is the best provider from the cabinet speeds?
I did see vodafone which has a nice price point.
Can anyone help me?
I am new on here.

There are four main speed options available which are (download/upload): 80/20, 55/10, 40/10, 40/2. Not all ISPs offer them all - e.g. Plusnet only offer 40/2 or 80/20. Those are the maximum sync speeds - 55/10 would fit your predicted speeds best.

What are you priorities?

Hi, Unlimited usage is must I sometimes download pc games(Not legal way) and stream using kodi.
Reliability well yes i would think so.
Performance at peak times - would rather have not but my budget might not have them.
Quality of support MUST
I did see vodafone they have a plan at £20 but I love the fact their no line rental!
I am leaning to vodafone Unlimited Fibre 3 and the price is good i think?
Is their any sync speeds - 55/10 that you know of?

Have a look at http://www.kitz.co.uk/isp/ISP_ratings.php

Select period 1 year then click resubmit.

If price is the over-riding factor you might choose Vodaphone!

I swapped from plusnet to idnet ,the cost is more with idnet and the service is fantastic ,I am on a 55/ 10 product and my speed is around 51 on the speed testers , the first time I had to use support was a pleasure, straight through to them and they phoned me back with updates when they said they would,

I would recommend idnet  ;D

Hello,

I am a current (maybe ex) customer of Vodafone, There service is great when it works, its sh*t when it doesn't, and its about a 90% rate of good times... and their support i would only give them a 2 star... It seems Vodafone's higher ups have strongly suggest to their customer service team that all problems with their network is in the home related therefore they cannot help... ive struggled with this issue quite alot, with them quoting like a issue with broadband drops needing to be over 7 in 48hrs or its not their side of the problem and its a in home equipment fail... So if you can deal with this kind of support then their good, otherwise if your budget can handle it go somewhere else.

Relatively few ISP's are currently actively offering the 55/10 speed.

You might be better off getting BT Infinity 1 - as a new customer - they are now likely to provision the line as an 80/20 rather than 55/10 - and if you take into account cashback/vouchers the price can be very competitive.

Otherwise Sky now offer 55/10 if your line isn't good enough for 80/20

Personally, I believe Vodafone haven't had a great reputation for their fibre services
