Title: Excellent speed with Sky LLU
Post by: roseway on September 12, 2017, 02:25:21 PM
I've just returned from setting up Sky Broadband Unlimited for a friend. It was enabled today, and when I tested it I found that the downstream connection speed is over 22 Mbps. She won't be feeling the need to upgrade to FTTC any time soon. :)

That is good to know.  :)

Do you recall the available US rate? If I were able to achieve a DS rate in the 20 - 24 Mbps range, I would consider a supplier able to provide Annex M.

I didn't look closely, but the Sky Q Hub provides limited stats, and probably doesn't show the available rates. I'll have a look the next time I'm there. My friend won't be interested in such things, because she's determinedly non-technical. She's only now finally accepted that dial-up isn't sufficient. :)

It is. There's a company called Freeola which readily provides it to anyone who wants without needing any registration.

I do actually get it.  Some people don't like how they have to subscribe for a monthly cost.
If all they do is check e-mail and browse the occasional website then PAYG dial up could suffice for their needs.

TBF since dad died, my mother could probably suffice on dial-up as she refuses to do a lot of things on line and apart from the odd photo's and messages thats her limit.   The only reason she needs DSL is for when the like of the grandkids or me are there and we hook up our devices.  My nieces are very much into streaming.
