Title: ISP Performance Monitoring
Post by: kitz on May 06, 2008, 07:29:07 PM
Help Broadband ISP Performance Monitoring.

Sam from SamsKnows (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/) is attempting a unique form of monitoring ISP performance and is currently looking for volunteers on the following ISPs to help in his research

Accepted testers will be supplied with a "SamBox type router" that will sit between your own router and your PC. The Sambox will perform various tests on your connection at different times of the day to check such things as speed, Latency, Webpage loading times, Packet Loss and DNS tests.

One caveat is that these tests could add up to an additional 2GB of traffic per month, so caution is advised if you are on a limited connection (although smaller tests can be arranged if you are on a low usage account).

Theres more information about the project Performance Monitoring FAQ (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/pm/faq.html)

30GB is a bit limiting, to say the very least! I could do that in 6 hours on this UKO connection.
