Title: Resync... now better
Post by: Bestgear on August 20, 2017, 08:38:49 PM
Guys

I would appreciate some advice.

My 612 was running for yonks (over a year) and I had to power off to recable it a month or two ago.

Since reconnecting I was getting about 6-7mb less than it had run for previousy.

Tonight the modem resync, which was not me, and my speed it back up nearer to where it was a year ago,

I have attached a G.inp graph - what does that tell me?

My previous SNR was below 5 and when I rebooted it a month or two agom, it went back up to circa 7-8 - hence the poorer sync speed.

If I reboot/remove my 612 or indeed swap it for another router, will the speed go back down!?!? Where does the 30min rule come into play?!?!

Thanks in advance

David

Just leave it alone.

If your line remains stable, your SNR target margin may be reduced further.

Thanks...I will.... it would be a bonus to have it up where it used to be!

As they say, every little helps!

What triggers the cabinet to attempt a lower SN Margin?

The circuit's history. If the circuit shows as being stable, then incremental target SNRM reductions will be applied.

Hi

It is weird though, as it was stable for months... like 15 or so, between reboots of the 612... then when it was switched on after being off for no more than 15-20mins (definately not 30 mins) the actual dropped considerably and the snr was back up high(er).

So does "playing around" swapping routers/modems harm your line speed... or will it always recover without ISP/BT intervention after a period of time? Is there  a rukle that says when you swap always make sure its done within 30 mins or outside of 30mins?

I have ordered a new router so would like to swap it when I get it...VMG8924-B10A - and see how it compares to the 612.

Heaven knows why we get hung up on speed...

The rule of thumb (or paw) is to leave the circuit disconnected for a minimum of 30 minutes.

The idea behind it is quite simple: The DLM process operates using data gathered in 15 minute periods. However there is no definition as to when such 15 minute periods begin. So to ensure that there will be one complete 15 minute period during which time the DLM will record that there is no device active on the circuit, the fifteen is doubled to thirty.

Well... my circuit, from being a happy chappy for yonks has really taken a turn for the worst!

ES are huge.... never had them over a few before.....

Going to raise a ticket with plusnet as enough is enough!

Have a look at my stats Bestgear if you have a few mins... no idea what is wrong as its all over the place!

I have moved back to a HG612 to get the reporting working.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean.  :-\

A ZyXEL VMG8924-B10A and Roseway's DSLstats utility are compatible.

I've just looked. Yuck!  :yuck:

The FECs, CRCs, ES & SES are just crazy.

To me the SNRM and QLN plots are screaming "physical infrastructure, possibly an iffy joint, fault".

Could you also attach Hlog?

I could . . . and this time I will. However please create yourself a MDWS viewing account and then you can look at all the parameters for any user uploading data. There are other users who are not UK based and they have no problem using MDWS.
