Title: Can you see it?
Post by: kitz on July 14, 2017, 09:06:24 PM
Can you see it?  [edited to give a clue - you are looking for the cat face in the effusion)

A few weeks ago Zigs was extremely poorly and struggling to breathe.  An xray showed up plueral effusion.  A sample was drawn and tested positive.  The diagnosis was not good and he was sent home for his final few days.  The vet did what she could to make him comfortable and said she'd be available 24/7 over the weekend if I thought the time was right.  Instead he went and did a rather dramatic bounce back.

This is his x-ray.  The white cloudiness is the effusion.  His lung should show up black.  I was given a copy this morning because whatever it is, is turning out to be rather puzzling.  His cytology report, xrays and a sample of the effusion was sent away.  Several vet specialists have looked at the results.  Even an expert pathologist.  There is absolutely no doubt he was an extremely sick boy.

Today he went for a checkup.  There is no sign of the effusion. No-one knows what it was or what caused it, nor why test results were positive., but he is stable and a very happy purry cat.   There possibly may be some other underlying cause, but as it currently stands he is doing fine  :fingers:

PS If you can see it, then the term is Pareidolia.
Its supposedly a sign of intelligence whereby we are predisposed to seek the familiar.

Can no-one else see the cat face staring out smack bang in the middle of the effusion?

Perhaps I didnt make it clear in my first post.
Basically in an x-ray the lung should be black, but all that white cloudiness is pleural effusion which was causing him such great difficulty to breathe.

I shared the xray, not because he'd been poorly, but because the xray had what looked like a cat face in the pleural cavity.  Its also why I mentioned pareidolia (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3280816/What-photos-s-faces-suffer-facial-pareidolia.html) which is the term for seeing things like Jesus in the clouds etc.

Well I thought I could see something in the photo but was not sure whether to say anything in case I misunderstood the question, not sure what I thought it was. I had only looked at the small version in the thread, having enlarged it I'm not sure it's any clearer. I suspect because it is all about your cat this suggested to me that there 'could' be an image of a cat.

Anyway glad Zigs has mended OK.

I saw the cat image in the big picture immediately, but in the smaller image it looked more like a person. Now, in bright daylight, I struggle to see either of those things. It's certainly strange. :)

Like the others, I'm delighted to hear that Zigs is better.

I posted it elsewhere as a simple "Can you see it?" and most people saw a cat.
However there were 2 suggestions of an owl, 1 said tiger cub and another thought it looked like a spaniel.

I thought it was amusing how our brain forms faces in objects.
There's some good examples here

We have marble effect tiles in the bathroom and while contemplating I can see all sorts of things in the patterns, a bear, Swiss doll's head, Victorian lady in her finery to name a few. However, my other half sees none of these. We once stayed in a hotel with similar effect wall cladding in the bathroom, this produced an entirely different result which was far too risqué to elaborate on here!  :o

Can no-one else see the cat face staring out smack bang in the middle of the effusion?

Having now downloaded the large image and viewed it in its native size (resolution) I have no problem in seeing a cat's face looking straight at me, with its head rotated by about 8 degrees anticlockwise (from my viewpoint).  :D

In the larger picture I can now see a cat, chin down to lower centre, just offset anti clockwise.   Even the cat's folded left ear is visible.

And that's odd because when I viewed the thread earlier (from a Lytham St Annes hotel   ;)) best I could make out was a long nosed canine face, in the smaller pic, chin down directly into lower right corner.

Glad to hear things are a bit more promising for Ziggy.

And back home now, but pleased to say I recommend that area of UK.   :)

Yes I can see the images you say in both .

We as humans have the ability to make faces out of shapes   :   Take that or )        :         )     :     )
:   )     : )      Now if I reduce the gap we get :)

With your image of the cat you can fool your brain by hiding some of the face image out with say your hand, then your brain can not see a face.

A good report on Pareidolia     https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia

The  ESA mission, Rosetta space prob launched in 2004 and arrived at Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko on 6 August 2014.
I am documented on there website as seeing human faces in the comets rock surface and the images just turn out to be odd rock formations so the scientist say.

When I wake in the morning I see an image of a cup of coffee before my eyes even open.
