Hmm, nearly £9 per call from 118118, more for some other providers, for a service that for most of my life was free of charge.  :o

A reminder perhaps that deregulation is not necessarily a good thing. :(

competition is good tho according to ofcom

As I'm sure you know, it ceased to free at least 20 years ago.  I remember watching the 118118 TV adds and thinking, competitive forces and deregulation are fine in theory, but "who's going to pay for all this advertising"?   ???

We all now know of course, the consumers must pay.  :(
