Title: It keeps me occupied
Post by: noddy on May 08, 2017, 08:17:50 AM
Well when I think I almost understand a bit about ADSL  my lines been not to bad recently then around 2.30 yesterday things got weird , FEC didn't look to have changed that much but CRC and ES/hour went way up sync has remained the same so far and SNR remains stable ?

It's remained at that sort of error rate since  :(

I would guess that either a new user has connected close by your circuit or there is an item of equipment that is going faulty -- possibly with a switching mode PSU.  :o

If you have such devices in your vicinity then yes, that might be a suspect.

Take a look at the information on the REIN (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/rein.htm) page and see if it assists in locating a potential faulty piece of equipment within your locality.

According to the ES data, the CRC rate must have reduced after 4pm?
Edit: the ES graph has no data after 15:16

I don't like those logarithmic scales on the CRC and FEC graphs.

and it finally dropped sync 1.30 today which raised snr ( which is almost a flat line ? )but still high errors

out with the little radio and a very clear constant click so looks like the near-by fence , the strange thing is last time this happened it was showing up on the snr graph but that is not fluctuating at all ?

well after a lot of field walking ( I've taken it on my self to check all the fences ) I couldn't believe what an length of fencing is connected  :o it's 4 good sized fields . I put extra grounding in reconnected fence joints and have got the ES/hour rate down to about 45 on averagebut still have some ideas to try out  :fingers:
