Title: Static IP / DNS settings got reset during upgrade.
Post by: Bowdon on April 18, 2017, 12:30:39 PM
I've noticed on the PC that has only ever had windows 10 on, during the update to the creators upgrade all my dns settings and (lan) static ip settings were all set back to 'obtain from...'. I had to re-enter them in. Not a big issue but I just happened to notice it when trying to diagnose another problem.

Interesting the computer that upgraded from Win7 to Win10 kept the details, and also the laptop coming from Win8, Win8.1 to Win10 kept the details too.

they missing it out on the settings restore.

As I said before the update reinstalls the entire OS.

1 - Backup settings/apps.
2 - Backup OS
3 - Reinstall OS
4 - Recover settings/apps.
5 - Anything not backed up is reset to defaults.

All I can say is go and do something less boring instead while this upgrade takes place as it must have taken just over 2 hours to complete.
