Title: Strange but repeatable ADSL problem
Post by: waltergmw on March 26, 2017, 05:34:51 PM
Gentlefolk,

I'd be most grateful for any opinions or advice on this anomaly:-

We performed a horrible DSL speed test this morning.

Strangely it almost looks as if DLM or another regulator is running the line at quite horrible near-sync conditions after the fault is triggered by cause(s) unknown.

We then did a 5 minute power-reset of the modem followed by another speed test and, quite astonishingly, we have a low, but acceptable increased upload and download, speed on this line.

Meanwhile a local bonded set of ADSL services continue unaltered at a sync speed of 2.68, 2.21 and 1.99 Mbps download.

This problem has been ongoing for almost a year so has just been escalated to newcastle.technical.complaints@bt.com

Does anybody know what ADSL data is available to this team so we might perhaps suggest they monitor a particular parameter ?

We also see that the bRAS checker in the public domain produces much lower figures than on normal ADSL or VDSL services.

I wonder if there could have been an error in the configuration profile ?

Kind regards,
Walter
