I regard them as evil devices and would never recommend their use.  >:(

Agreed but this article gives plenty of evidence for your recommendation.

As regards interference with radio reception, I am not surprised that high speed data over unshielded powerlines causes problems.  Blindingly obvious, imho.   

I am more surprised that high speed data over unshielded phone lines, ie DSL, causes any fewer problems.  Phone lines have the marginal benefit of being twisted, sometimes at least, which will help.  But I remain surprised that all the extra spurious spectrum noise, from DSL, has gone largely uncriticised. ???

*Strokes his 1200 Mbps powerline devices as they molest the 2-68 MHz spectrum. One connects my home office, via an SD-WAN box, to the broadbandings downstairs. Works pretty well too, see 40+ MB/s from LAN transfers.
