Title: HG612 B3 Killed With B030SP08?
Post by: poulsej on November 25, 2016, 11:48:13 PM
Can anyone help here ?
Got a HG612 3B [V100R001C01B028SP10].
I've been running it unlocked for about 1.5 years.
For some reason I decided to flash it with B030SP08.
Via the gui it completed but when it came up it was the same version.
In the end I did the 5sec reset from poweron and applied the firmware via the update page (192.168.1.1).
I can't connect to it once it comes up. Power/DSL/LAN2 light up steady but nothing happens.

Is B028SP10 still available anywhere ? or do I need to do something else.

Cheers

Welcome to the Kitz forum.  :)

It is impossible to update the firmware of a Huawei HG612 via the GUI. All of the available firmware images can only be applied via the Broadcom boot-loader firmware update page.

All firmware images should still be available . . . and I'm sure, if really necessary, I could find a copy of the original Asbokid unlocked firmware if I have a good search in the grotto.

Please try the following --
Normally it is the failure to leave the HG612 quiescent at steps (3) & (10) that results in firmware update problems.

The above advice directly mirrors my experience of loading new firmware to my HG612 a few weeks ago.  It took me three goes to get the firmware loaded to mine, and the key was exactly as above - wait.  The main issue I had was not waiting long enough at step 10 - it takes a surprisingly long time to load the new firmware and there is little in the way of a proper indication that it has completed, so as advised, just wait a long time to be sure.

IT'S ALIVE !!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much both..... I really wasn't sure if it was cooked !
It really does seem the long wait after the flash is the critical bit.
I guess I'll keep this running another couple of years and leave the hh5 in the box.

IT'S ALIVE !!!!!!!!!!

Excellent news.

The V100R001C01B030SP08 image is the most recent release which also supports G.Inp, so the update is worthwhile performing.
