Hi on the outside I have 2 core wire which is untwisted thick copper looks just like mains ring wire? Would I get any speed increase if this was changed to CW1138? I am looking at switching from adsl2+ to bt infinity.

Are you sure this is your Openreach line coming in and not some extremely dodgy looking house wiring joint?
Who in their right mind uses twin and earth electrical wiring for telephone extensions.
Wow..
-
That looks like a big botch job which needs to be carefully checked. :-\ I would be very careful in keeping my paws well away from those joints . . . :-X

:-\ :help:
I cant understand why that sort of cable would be used. I would be very careful looking at that. ..

How long is that cable and where does it go?

How long is that cable and where does it go?
Its about 12m and goes to a junction box which then goes to telephone pole
-
Perhaps you could take a few more pictures, please?
The junction box, the pole to which the cable ultimately reaches, etc.

I can't see any photo's :-\

The first post has a photo in it with a length of T&E used a telephone cable
