EDIT: I didn't speak to BT myself until today but it appears the previous retentions agent was quite sly. Despite them being told very clearly there was no way would we agree a 24 month contract, please only give the current offer for 12 month retention, he gave a price for the 24 month anyway and just didn't say that's what it was for which made the offer look much better than it was.
All set to migrate and BT throw a last minute curve ball in the form of a much better retention deal than they offered last month...
So, if we stay I would want to ditch the HH5, iirc there is a workaround (DHCP forwarding? or have I got that slightly wrong?) but that isn't a solution I favour anyway. Can I do a proper two box solution with BT? i.e. Draytek/TP-Link//ZyXEL/HG612/ or whatever for the modem + whichever router I like?
Thanks!

Yes you can. All you need to know is the PPPoE username is bthomehub@btbroadband.com

Thanks Dray.
At least that's simple and straightforward :)

Password is not needed, but if router requires one just enter BT.

Sure you can. I have an HG612 and Zyxel 8934 as main and spare modems with an Asus RT-AC68U router.
Works well. For what it's worth I find the HG612 syncs ever so slightly lower than the Zyxel but seems to be more stable in terms if error rates.

Thanks for all the replies :)
Per my edit in the first post, it looks like will have to migrate away from BT after all.
