Title: BTOR and fault
Post by: renluop on October 23, 2016, 12:53:14 PM
A little OT perhaps for this forum!

Both phone and bband went down on Friday, and i reported in @ 17:55. I heard  no spiel about having to pay. Cause was a network fault and time scale for repair was tomorrow, about which I was skeptical, it being the start of the weekend.

Call was received before 9:30 today, that line was up again. Somewhere a cable had broken.

  for once to BTOR.

Who are your phone and broadband suppliers and which did you report it to? (and how?)

Phone: BT
BB: PN
How: Mobile
To: BT

Not sure why you're asking. :)

Just interested because you said "no spiel about having to pay" whereas BT retail did give me that when reporting a phone fault which they diagnosed as "near my property".

Hmmm! Makes me wonder, if they were already aware of some area fault, though in course of exchange, but later. I did mention what I'd done before calling along with the symptoms.

I tend to assume they are working to a standard computerised script.  :(

It will depend on the outcome of the initial remote unit test, as to whether you will get notified of any potential charges.

If the line test returns a 'Disconnection fault' at say the MDF, or the Cab ....... then you cannot possibly be held responsible for this. Conversely, a short-circuit or earth fault are more likely to be at the premises and as such you will get notified of potential charges.

Thanks for the info BS.

Gives a whole new meaning to 'potential difference'.   ;)
