'Several' waves of cyber attacks are repeatedly hitting major websites including Twitter and Spotify today.

The internet service company Dyn said that it had suffered its first denial of service (DDoS) attack on its domain name service shortly after 6AM ET (11AM BST), in an attack that mostly affected the east coast of the US.

It confirmed a second attack was underway at 1PM ET, which appeared to be centred on UK servers, also later confirmed 'several' attacks had been seen and were ongoing.
