Title: Help uploads to mdws have stopped
Post by: Pauljbl on October 10, 2016, 09:33:09 PM
Hi

Just read my spam folder and got lots of messages that I am double uploading data. I am not sure how I have done that as only running one copy of hg612 stats.

I have swapped to dslstats now. Can you see if that is only uploading once
Thanks

Check the time on the uploading device is set correctly.

I get that problem when my Win 7 PC is stressed running Microsoft updates and the task manager begins starting new instances of the stats collector. My workaround was to disable MS updates.

How do I get my uploads to be reinstated as have been blocked.

'Lots' were in excess of 1000 e-mails.....

The last mail you were sent warning you of the imminent block explained exactly what was wrong:

Reason
You are uploading from HG612 Stats twice within the same minute every minute.

That was once at nn:07 and again at nn:11 secs and there was an explanation of what you might need to do.

Your uploads are now reinstated...

Edit:
At 21:59 you were still uploading using HG612 Modem Stats and still with the same duplicates (almost certainly two running windows processes). There is no sign of any DSLstats uploads.

Thanks for reinstating. Will check my task manager to see what's running as hgstats is not running as far as I am aware

What should I be looking for that causes it to keep running twice.  I see the program appear then disappear in the task manager

Which program - hgstats?

I thought you were running DSLStats now?

Is there a scheduled task set up to run it?

Can you delete/rename the exe?

I think I have stopped it now.

So if I make a task and exit the program the task will still keep running

Yes, it is the scheduled task which runs the program to collect the stats, not the GUI. There is also a bug in windows which can cause a task to be run twice in quick succession. I don't have the link to the hotfix but it has been posted on here before.
