Title: FTTP Pole Mounted Boxes
Post by: aesmith on October 03, 2016, 01:14:25 PM
Hi,

The village where my parents live has FTTP available.   I was having a look at the kit which comprises green boxes on certain poles, for example there's one on the pole outside their house presumably to serve the three houses along their track.   What I was wondering was whether these boxes house any active kit such as DWDM or other multiplexing kit.   They look larger that you'd expect just to house fibre joints.

(The box in the picture appears to just be put in ready with no subscribers yet connected, there's overhead cabling to the pole but nothing going underground and nothing going onwards from the pole)

Cheers,

Tony S

There's lots of different types of enclosures, with this kind of set-up inside.

A friend of mine tells me he is busy at work producing hundreds of waterproof boxes to be mounted on BT poles "for a new fibre broadband service" . Sounds like FTTrN.

I wonder if your friend could provide a picture, please? We would then know what to look out for . . .

I suspect not - no cameras/phones allowed at his workplace.

You could show him the pictures in this thread, ask him how his products differ.
