Title: ISPs’ control panel options

What options / settings can you change (e.g. settings relating to your line) in the control panel on your ISP’s website?

Absolutely nothing on FTTC. TalkTalk ADSL was the same.

afaik there is only AAISP that do that.  BE* used to have a CP where you could set options and possibly since AAISP were BE resellers they expanded it to also cover BTw ADSL.

Any Zen users about? I used to use Zen, can't remember what was available in the website.

There is nothing available to Zen customers when it comes to changing settings. You can contact support via telephone and they can adjust things like target SNRM, but not online.

 Uno allows BTW adsl lines to toggle interleaving on/off/auto and on their TTB adsl lines a fuller range of profile options.  For FTTC there is nothing which is I think true of all ISP's.  You can have the FTTC dlm profile changed if you contact support.  It is "fast" by default

Thanks.   Isn't it interesting that its only the 'smaller' ISPs that tend to do this sort of thing?   Plusnet's workspace and portal also started off good allowing EU to auto configure certain options re mail, and to a certain extent MX,ccgi configs.   Development stopped when taken over by BT and nothing new seems to have been added since and which is why theres nothing about DLM.   I know at one time, that one of the (then) bigger ISPs was wanting to purchase workspace because of its automation and cut down of support time.

You would think that it would cause less work for CS in respect of ticket requests if the EU was able to change these settings themselves.   But then again the big boys seem to think that the average joe public doesnt have sufficient knowledge to know what they are doing.   I suppose in some respects they do have a point.  BT did not like DMTtool and openly state this somewhere.  Some people were tweaking SNR without knowing what they were doing and making their line worse. 

Surely things like changing NGA profile from Standard to Speed shouldnt harm..  should it? 
Sky in particular seem to like everything the same with no options for change... ie Sky router being mandatory.  They did offer BE customers Sky Pro whereby the EU could go on Speed, but now they appear to have totally dropped Sky Pro which was probably just a stop gap to appease the ex-BE users.  I haven't heard mention if this is still available for Fibre Max... does anyone know?

Perhaps its only the smaller niche ISPs who think their customers are tech savvy enough to be able to be given some control.
