Title: Huawei HG633 router possible to use on another provider????
Post by: portishead350 on August 26, 2016, 10:12:36 PM
Hi all.
New here so Hi !!!!

Just looking for help regarding a router. I have a just switched to plusnet from TT and the provided broadband router is rubbish.  I wondered if anyone knows if I can use or flash the Huawei HG633 which I have from Talktalk to work on plusnet?? Or I have  a dlink dsl3780   ?????

Any ides if I can???   Alternatively I have a standard Belkin F5d8236-4 .. Bit old though, wonder how good it is.

But the HG633 looks nicer ! Id prefer to use it ...
Thanks all.

Welcome to the Kitz forum.  :)

I understand that the supplied Plusnet hub is just a repackaged BT HH5.

Assuming that you know the credentials for your Plusnet account, then if the Huawei HG633 allows itself to be reconfigured (either by its GUI or its CLI) it should be usable.

Never having used a Plusnet provided Internet service nor the Huawei HG633 modem/router I am uncertain as to what to advise. Perhaps you could try the simplest experiment by connecting a computer to the HG633, whilst the latter is disconnected from the line, and see if it can be configured via its GUI.

The plusnet router is a  Plusnet 2704n. The  signal dissappears in any other room in my home. Never had it with tt routers.
It's dreadful.

If its anything like the BT HH 5, it is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard!

I don't see why the Huawei wouldn't work, provided you used the correct logon id and password for your Plusnet account.

I would think the Plusnet forum would be able to offer more guidance ...
