Title: Are Computer Clubs Extinct ?
Post by: JGO on August 09, 2016, 11:12:48 AM
It seems that gatherings of enthusiasts have been replaced by a leader and a group of disciples !?

This seems to imply that development of computing has stopped, and can be learned complete like Latin Grammar !

The majority of people these days are users, not hackers.  Use of desktop PCs is declining, and no-one builds their own laptop, tablet, etc. Building and generally fiddling with desktop PCs was a large part of the activities of computer clubs. So I guess it's not too surprising, although I do mourn its passing.
