I've just tried using the 17070 ring back test, but it doesn't seem to work. However, when I looked at the missed calls list, I found a BT number had tried to call but apparently it was noted as a missed call even though the phone didn't actually ring back? Strange...

must admit never have used the ring back option just used the quiet line test the odd time, you can use a mobile phone to ring the landline it will work the same way as ring back for me that would show up as 12-18 errored seconds on the upstream no wonder why I avoid this option ;)

That's what I was trying to investigate. I was trying to see if I could get the phone to ring for about a minute.

Have a call blocker installed so some numbers will not audibly ring the landline if they are on the blocked list it cuts them off after 1 non audible ring but you can still see the spike of US errored seconds in the graphs when someone has called the landline.

A call blocker only blocks the calls to the end-users telephone equipment, BT are now using a call blocker at the exchange side so it never reaches the end-users telephone equipment.

The BT service has been announced but not yet been released.
The "rogue" numbers will be diverted to a junk voicebox, which we estimate will affect up to 25 million unwanted calls a week.

The number shown on a ringback would be 0800 328 9393. Is that the one you saw?
If so, and the phone didn't ring, you would appear to have a problem. Are you getting any incoming calls at all?

Because you said the ring back test never worked but the last number that called your landline was from BT a possible ring back test which was not audible you have a short memory William.

Yes, I can confirm that we're getting incoming calls but the ring back test doesn't work.

OK William, one of is misunderstanding the other, but I'm not sure which, so I'll try again.
You tried a ringback test, but the phone didn't ring.
Subsequently you found a BT number in your 'missed calls' list.
I asked whether the number you found was 0800 328 9393, as that is the number which is sent by caller ID on a ringback.
