Title: BBC Four programme The Reassembler on 1950's telephon
Post by: sheddyian on April 06, 2016, 07:58:03 PM
A mildy interesting programme on BBC Four the other evening, James May is assembling old equipment by hand and talking about it as he does.  In this programme, he reassembles a 1950 Post Office bakelite telephone, which he says was the first model to have an internal bell.

MIght be of interest to some here.

I think I still have one somewhere.

Did anybody else spot that he missed a piece. He made a great fuss of the fact that the circular perspex disc that goes in the centre of the dial had a locating hole for no apparent reason. The reason for the hole was for the retaining circlip which he failed to replace.

Circlip can be seen in this picture.
