Title: Modem Options - Sell 8800AXL?
Post by: Chilled on March 31, 2016, 08:33:53 AM
Good morning,

Having had to do some changes to the wireless in the house, I've ended up with a Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR that can now supply the whole of the house with signal.

I'm currently using a Billion 8800AXL for everything but the wireless, but I'm wondering if it's not needed, and something cheaper might be a better idea?

Would there be anything worth getting instead of the 8800AXL to free up some money. In fact what's the 8800AXL even worth these days as I can't find any for sale to set a price!

I've a HG612 that I unlocked a long time ago collecting dust, but I assume this would be a step back?

Hi

There has been little advancement in the actual VDSL modem hardware (apart from firmware), so the HG612 is absolutely fine.

As for selling the 8800AXL, it might not be worth the hassle, and it's handy to have at least two VDSL modems, so you have a back up for troubleshooting should the VDSL drop out for any reason, you can rule out your own equipment.

Regards
