Title: Sneaky Vista still reporting back
Post by: oldfogy on March 28, 2008, 05:06:55 PM
At some stage or other I un-ticked the box so as not to participate in the "Windows Customer Improvement Program"

However, with looking for a way of enabling the Task Bar icon for the Power Management icon setting
(Power management show on Taskbar) that one (the same as XP).
This facility must be there as it is greyed out in the option. (Still need an solution for that)

When I came across under "Task Scheduler" "Customer Improvement Program" and with looking further into it (as you do) I found that it  is  was still active, even though I had dismissed it earlier.

Description:
If the user has consented to participate in the Windows Customer Improvement Program, this job collects and sends usage data to Microsoft.

When running the task, use the following account:
SYSTEM

Run whether the user is logged on or not

Now I know for a fact I did not agree and it was still enabled, and had run at 19:00 every day so the report says, so it can't be wrong.

"Now I know for a fact I did not agree" but my account is Phil, not SYSTEM

Now I call that extremely SNEAKY
