Title: BT Call Logging Centre?
Post by: Bowdon on March 16, 2016, 01:03:50 PM
I just got a phone call (well 2 because he called back) from an Indian 'gentleman' claiming to be from BT Call Logging Centre.

I'm assuming this was a scam call and trying to jump on the back of BT's announcement of cutting down on nuisance calls.

I think this is the second call I've had of this type. The previous one I think was a month ago.

Just giving people the heads up if you get a call of this kind.

They seem to be taking over from the Windows scam calls!

One of them was put out when he said "I am from BT Call Logging" or something similar, I said "No you are not, you are some sort of scam caller", then asked "Why are you really calling me?"

He hung up, result

Is this the one where the caller (no CLI and Indian) begins with something like "I understand you have been receiving a lot of nuisance phone calls"?

Not new I'm afraid, I've been getting them for at least a year or two now. Might be more sinister, but I assumed they were just going to pass me on to somebody selling call blockers, who would pay them a "finder's fee". :(

As with all nuisance callers I generally just string them along as long as I can, taking up as much of their time as possible, without actually engaging in any part of their script.

@sevenlayermuddle

I think that was the opening line. My parents picked it up. At one stage the background noise or interference was so loud we ended the call, and the guy called right back.
