Hello all
Bit of advice needed :)
I currently have a requirement for a (as the title suggests!) GigE switch (4 x ports min) & a dual band WAP. Ideally I would like these combined into a single device for aesthetics and to keep Mrs z1ts at bay ;)
Snooping around a certain auction site, I've come across some BT HomeHub 5's both type A & B. Which I believe (with DHCP disabled etc.) will fit my requirements quite neatly. Plus @ circa £25/30 they're not going to dent the wallet too much.
I just wondered if anyone on here has any experience in a) using a HH5 as a switch/WAP & their experiences and b) if either type A or B are more suited for what I have in mind.
(Of course if there's a clearly superior bit of kit at a reasonable price on the market then I'm not adverse to considering it!)
As always thanks in advance!
Cheers

I recommend a Type A rather than a Type B as the Type B has poorer thoughput.
Note when you use it, you'll probably use one of the LAN ports for the incoming ethernet feed so that will leave you 3 outgoing ports.

Thanks for your reply, I am aware of the use of the incoming ethernet using a LAN port, so the other 3 will be allocated thus:-
- NAS Drive
- PC
- Spare (at the moment!)
Trust clear ;)
Thanks for the advice on the type A vs B quandry!
