Title: DSLstats/MyDSLWebStats
Post by: simmotech on November 10, 2015, 11:51:34 AM
I signed up to the MyDSLWebStats and got a validation key. I made a donation via Paypal and it was accepted.
I entered the details into DSLStats and it confirmed the Validation key.

Yet I can't see my details on the site after waiting a day. So I clicked the help button to see if I had missed something.
There is a message at the top that says "As from 15 October 2015 this service is no longer operating".

What gives?

Have you set up a program to upload your stats to MDWS??

Hi

There is no sign of you ever having uploaded anything to MDWS since you registered and validated I'm afraid. You do though show as active via the web pages and as having donated.

If DSLstats validates the key then it can connect to MyDSLWebStats okay and should be uploading. Have you enabled the Upload Data to MyDSLWebStats check box? I have to say that on one of the DSLstats installations here, none of the checkboxes ever render (graphics card problem I guess).

And have a look in the DSLstats Events log to see if that contains any helpful info please.

If not, roseway may like to to step in and see if he can help.

The strange message you got via Help did exist back in mid-0October but has long since gone and isn't in the system any more. Possibly you picked it up via a cached page from a previous visit?

At the moment I can't add much to what Tony said, but if the "Upload data..." checkbox is ticked and it still doesn't upload, then I'll investigate further.

Checkbox is definitely ticked.

However, I've just noticed that the help button (on the MyDSLWebStats tab) goes to http://www.s446074245.websitehome.co.uk/mydslwebstats.html  (http://www.s446074245.websitehome.co.uk/mydslwebstats.html) whereas the link on the same tab goes to http://www.mydslwebstats.co.uk/ (http://www.mydslwebstats.co.uk/) - that could explain the bogus "no longer operating message".

Just looked in C:\Users\SIMON\AppData\Local\dslstats\mydslwebstats and can see 10 files - some from this morning (when I restarted DSLstats just in case that was the issue) and others constantly updating.

I had a look in uploaddata.txt and noticed a reference to curl.exe
The help page mentioned that this might popup "Unknown Publisher" if it was blocked. It said this might happen "When running the program.." which I had taken to mean dslStats itself.
I have not seen that happen but I manually ran curl.exe and indeed got that message, so I unblocked it.

Eric, I think you need to edit your web page

Still no sign of any uploads though....

@simmotech
Ah!  So, what did you do earlier that got the uploads working then  ::)

Edit to make clearer  :(

It wasn't anything I did :)

Just found the "Cannot upload to MyDSLWebStats" option on the Alerts tab.

This informed me that upload14.exe is missing and so, after a bit of a battle with Norton AV, I have now restored that file and things are now moving!

Could it of been the above?

No, it was definitely Norton AV removing the upload14.exe file that was the problem.
Plus I was waiting for that message but didn't think to just look in the Event Log!
All fixed now.

One last question though - on the website charts it says "[Model Not Set]" but where does it get that from?
In the app Modem.router model is set to "Huawei HG612" (Normal Login tab)
And in the Traffic Monitoring tab it was "Custom" so I could set Other Interface to ptm1.101.

On the MDWS main page, click on "Options" under the graphs and you'll get several options including setting the modem type.

Done.

Thanks Eric.
