Title: Freespire
Post by: Astral on March 10, 2008, 03:12:17 PM
Somebody recommended this distro to me;

http://www.freespire.org/

Has anyone used this or know anything about it? The blurb sounds good, but then so did Suse, I wonder if it lives up to the claims made?

Freespire isn't terribly well thought of in the Linux community, but perhaps that's sour grapes because of its association with the very commercial Linspire, and the fact that it's unashamedly aimed at Windows users. So it's a bit out on a limb in the Linux world, but for the person who just wants to avoid any geeky stuff completely it certainly worth considering. As it's based on Ubuntu it's got a good reliable base.

Well I pride myself on my non-conformity so to be shunned by everyone has got to be a bonus! :)

I thought you'd be pleased to have another member of the Pariahs' Club, Eric. Just think, that would be a 100% increase in membership; quite a feather in your cap! :-X

I haven't tried Freespire yet. The washout of an Easter weekend would have been a good time to give it a go, I suppose.
