Title: Green cookie triangle
Post by: Weaver on July 15, 2015, 08:23:58 AM
Is it possible to make the green triangle at the bottom lhs corner go away by clicking on it? Dumb user :-)

(Safari, iPad.)

Perhaps just accept Kitz' cookies?  ::)

I suspect that your device is in deny-mode . . .

Edited to attach a screen-scrape of what I see.

Is that a third party cookie? Thinking Safari is set up to reject certain cookies?

It can't be a third party cookie, for I have configured Firefox not to accept them!  ;D

The green triangle is part of the free cookie control script (http://www.civicuk.com/cookie-control/index).   The cookie law has changed several times and its another one of those ridiculous rules implied by the EU.    But being a UK site I have to show it to be compliant.     The original rules were a lot stricter and at the time cookie control was the only place offering anything which met standards.

Ive never been that keen because it needs to use a geoplugin which often slows page loading down.   Now things have relaxed a bit, (because even large sites struggled to be compliant) I will be using a different script on the redesign front page.    Ive already coded it but the re-design is taking a lot longer to do.   Its one of those change something and break something else jobs. :'(

I am finding time REALLY hard atm and sitting down to code for an odd hour isnt working.  I dont want to moan too much on here what's going on and why my time is so filled.

New page needs to really be pulled to pieces and start again from scratch because theres so much code that simply adding something seems to interfere with something else.   But the new cookie script is plainer and when you tell it to go... it goes completely.

This post was intended as a wally user (?) enquiry, not a criticism of the triangle which is unobtrusive anyway. :-)

As it is, is it supposed to be showing permanently, well until you go into the forums, or am I supposed to click on something? (or iPad Safari weirdness?)

Volunteers ought to be offering their services coding for you or at least testing. a hint ye all.

I’m neither JavaScript literate, nor in any kind of shape unfortunately to offer myself up as a volunteer apprentice hacker contributor in this field. So apol.

As far as I can recall, I saw the "green triangle" at sometime in the past and clicked on it to investigate its purpose. Having done so, I "said" "OK" (whilst giving my best black looks towards Europe  >:(  ). I have not seen the triangle since that time.  :)

@burakkucat - this has to be somthing to do with my iPad Safari cookie settings, maybe Safari is  rejecting cookies.

Nods.

It is beginning to look like some configuration issue at your end . . .  :-\
