Title: Flash player vulnerabilities
Post by: sheddyian on July 14, 2015, 09:26:31 PM
A few days ago, a serious vulnerability was discovered in Adobe Flash, which would allow malicious or hijacked websites to take control of your PC.  This was fixed, then more were discovered.

There's a new update today, to see if you're running the latest version of flash, go to this page

http://www.adobe.com/uk/software/flash/about/ (http://www.adobe.com/uk/software/flash/about/) which will tell you which version you're running, and show you the latest versions available, based on OS and browser.

Visit this link in every browser installed on your computer, Chrome, Firefox, IE etc as they can be running different versions.

Make sure you're up to date, as the vulnerabilities are severe and are being exploited right now.

From this location (https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/cI0TFyxFEUU) I read --

The new PPAPI Adobe Flash Player runs in "out-of-process" mode, which means it runs in a separate compartment and memory space that is distinct and apart from the main browser process and webpages.  This allows stronger security and performance improvements, and ensures that any problems, slowdowns, or security issues in the Flash will not be able to affect the browser, and allows other webpages in other tabs to continue working even if the Flash in one webpage develops a problem.
