Has anyone seen or heard anything about the new Thomson TG799VAC? The broadbandbuyer shows the TG799vn for some reason though.

Well the spec sounds really good and the price is amazing if that is the price it ends up being sold at. There is a lot of marketing hyperbole though with no concrete information, and all that talk about Next-Gen dual core and hardware acceleration for CPU off load could equally apply to any number of now generation chip-sets.
Every sentence has had a PR and marketing spin put on it, for what is basically probably something based on the current Broadcom reference design, with Thomson's UI on top, which personally I'd rather avoid ::)

you buy it and test it and let us know if it was good, fair or bad? as no ones will not buy it because it isn't broadcom chipset.

I did notice information was rather scarce. I'm just glad we are seeing more different options available for a VDSL single box unit. I'll easily give it a try when its released if I can find a stockist with a good returns policy.
I have a few to try next time I get home already.

I wonder if Plusnet will offer this one as a combined ADSL/VDSL router
Just realised the spec is confusing as it says at the bottom
"A Broadband Wireless AC Router can also be used with Fibre Broadband via an Openreach/Fibre Modem"
whereas at the top it says VDSL2 compliance

I'm sure I read that it had a wan port as well as the DSL port which may marry up with the 'can also be used' with part of the comment. We shall see.
I'm willing to try anything on my line. It doesn't bother me if I get dlm'd or slight issues. My lines have always been interleaved anyway, well before g.inp was on the go.

Will watch with interest as it could be a very good alternative to the 8800NL when I eventually get fibre (possibly next month - depends on when the cab goes live)

Note that someone said its not BCM, I just had a quick look and cant see what DSLchipset it has, can someone point me to what Im missing. ty. :)

I wouldn't be too sure about the TG799vac v2 being Broadcom based just because the TG799vn (v2) is. The common Broadcom VDSL2 chips - the BCM6368 (http://www.broadcom.com/products/Broadband-Carrier-Access/xDSL-CPE-Solutions/BCM6368) and the BCM63168 (http://www.broadcom.com/products/broadband-access-and-modems/broadband-carrier-access/bcm63168) - contain MIPS based CPUs.
But the TG799vac v2 datasheet says it has a dual core ARM cpu. I don't know what DSL chip it has, the MIPS CPU architecture seems far more common. I think the Asus DSL-AC68U has an ARM CPU, but that Asus was really 2 systems in one box, with the ARM part being the router and a MIPS part doing the DSL.
I suppose the TG799vac v2 might have the bcm63138 (http://www.broadcom.com/products/broadband-access-and-modems/broadband-carrier-access/bcm63138) but this is entirely speculation based on some of the features looking similar such as the dual core ARM cpu and USB 3.0. But what makes me more doubtful is that the bcm63138 possibly supports G.fast, although this wasn't mentioned in its initial press release announcement (https://www.broadcom.com/press/release.php?id=s798586).

Useful page to read, http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/hardware/soc/soc.broadcom.bcm63xx difficult with this model as a lot of confusion over the model name (atm TG799vac and TG799vn appear to be the same thing according to technicolor website which is odd) and the announced specs changing, also this is supposed to be a telco supplied device and supported that way also, so no firmware downloads to dissect at the moment, certainly confusing to say the least also cannot find a page on Broadcoms website about the BCM63268.
