Title: set some posts as "read"

I have studied the FAQ and looked at "help" but I can't see a way to automatically mark as read those threads I have little interest in. Don't all shout at me for my unfeeling attitude but I'm thinking of for example the "birds on the cathedral" series. At the moment I have to click on the thread and close it to prevent it displaying again in the list of unread postings.

I dont think there is any way of doing this :/
