Hello all,
Great forum, lurk here a lot.
Have had rock solid connection and low errors for the last six months or so. Had fibre fitted last Jan and initial install gave me 22 megs.
The HH5A soon disappeared and thanks to you guys an unlocked HG612 went in and gave me a rock solid connection.
Speed topped out at around 26meg down and 5 up. Upgrading to SP08 took me to 30 down and 6 up.
SNR was always around 5.9 and 5.9 but since SP08 just reads 16.
Does this indicate noise on the line now? Or as I read, are some of the GUI stats borked with SP08?
Any help gratefully appreciated.

Hang on, pulling the stats means I've answered my own question here..

Any help on interpreting the stats would be useful. I'm on OSX so can't run all that lovely graphing software!
I was having an alarm system fitted at my house earlier. It got wired up to the phone line and BANG! - speed dropped to 12megs.
Logged in to the HG612 and suspected something was up. Was a bit thrown by the 26 SNR reading so asked him to immediately disconnect the system.
I figured something was interfering or that DLM has suddenly come and kicked my front door down.
Disconnected and voila - back to 29megs in a heartbeat.

My stats were similar to yours (slightly better in fact) when I had FTTC installed in 2011.
I was probably the first to be connected, via PlusNet, as BT continued to state for a good few months that it wasn't actually available.
These are my current stats (gradually degraded by increased crosstalk) on approx. 1100m line length:-

Hi,
I have upgraded using 08, but the interface shows 06.
Does this mean the upgrade to 08 has failed ?

Hi,
Does this mean the upgrade to 08 has failed ?
Yes. It does mean that.
If you updated via them modem's GUI, it will appear to have worked, but it doesn't.
It has to be updated using the same method as for unlocking the modem for it to succeed.
The reset button on the back of the modem isn't the easiest to hold down fully for 10 seconds or so.
Maybe it was released by accident?
