Hey everyone.
Feel so dumb asking this question but it's also bugging me.
STP / SFTP Cables, I have been reading the pros and cons of them as been looking at different cables etc, comparing differences and so forth and one thing I don't get is they say these cables need to be properly grounded. Sorry for it sounding so dumb but what does it mean to ground such a cable and how would you ground an STP / SFTP cable?

Rite I see what you mean by the wire but when you say can be connected to earth, what you mean, sorry for sounding dumb i did ask my special friend Google but couldn't find anything.

Your electric supply is earthed/or grounded (All sockets and lights etc in your house), this is used for safety reasons.

For example, if a earth connection is required for a temporary test, some of us have been known to connect to the shaft of a heavyweight screwdriver which has been pushed into the soil, right up to its handle. ;)
On most (temporary) occasions when I need an earth connection to ground part of a circuit, I will make use the the gubbins (image attached below) that is plugged into a standard 13A socket. The circular green socket is connected through to the earth pin, by virtue of which the building's electrical installation earth is then extended and made accessible for use.

Well I wasn't sure if it meant the same thing at the time as i found it a bit confusing when i read articles stating you have to ground the cable hence i asked here. Besides different search terms will give different results and i got the answer i needed here.
