Title: Odd circumstance of reply email failure to deliver
Post by: renluop on April 26, 2014, 04:14:56 PM
A few days back my son sent me an email, that arrived correctly in my personal inbox. I replied using the reply button. A while later a delivery failure notice came through:
Code: [Select]
A message that you sent to the following recipient could not be delivered due to a  permanent error. ** The remote server 212.159.9.200 responded with: **  Son@him.provider.com 550:#5.1.8 Domain of sender address <Me@me.provider.com>  does not exist . Names have been altered to protect the guilty or insane. :-\

Sent again as a new reply some hours later the message got through.

I'm puzzled, why the system of the ISP we both use should have chosen on that odd occasion not to recognise me. Ideas anyone, please?

Not attached, but I have the header dats for the failure notice available.

I'd guess that the mail-sever was just having a "funny turn".  :crazy:

Id agree with b*cat, must be a blip with the mail server.

212.159.9.200 = one of PN's mx servers.

Wonder if it could be in any way related to this (although it shouldnt)?   Was it the same day per chance?
