Title: new modem question
Post by: loonylion on April 12, 2014, 01:50:44 PM
So I received my unlocked Huawei 612, and have run into a problem. The UI/stats are only available on LAN2, which is no good as I can only use one LAN connection. (I have a standalone firewall appliance with a single WAN port, if I plug anything into LAN2 on the modem it will circumvent the firewall) Is it possible to make the webui and telnet available on LAN1 like it is with the ECI?

In a word: No.  :no:

As the HG612 is currently configured for usage with the Openreach GEA FTTC product, the LAN2 port "goes nowhere" other than to the internals of the modem itself. There is no connectivity between the LAN2 port and the VDSL2 link to the DSLAM/MSAN, hence to the "outside world".

Would a simple network switch be an idea ?

Firewall <---->simple 5 port switch<---->Lan1&Lan2
