 :o

There may have been some slowness earlier this afternoon when I upgraded the SMF software, but petnet is absolutley nothing to do with me.
Never even heard of them before. ???

The only 3rd party ads we server are via google and admittedly they have been known to cause problems in the past, but those ads are served direct from google servers, so afaik there shouldnt be anything to do with petnet.

Incidentally their website seems to be down

It's in  vetinary services (http://companycheck.co.uk/company/SC406125), so perhaps that is why it's dogging you.

Cheers for that chrys...  although Ive still no idea who petnet are... other than their website is down again. ???

What I cant see from your screen cap is the google 'ad choices' string that should appear just to the right of "rate your ISP".
As I cant see anything there Im assuming that its here where the ad has failed to load and what is causing the lag.

Im not sure why petchoices would be advertising, unless its something to do with 'google logic' ie kitz/kittens/pets..
What I have done is log into google adsense and put a block on both www.petnet.co.uk &  petnet.co.uk, which should hopefully ensure that no adverts should be served from them again.

that may be due to my noscript blocking some google stuff.

Just another thought on this, have you ever visited the petnet site or searched google for something pet related.

The only reason I mention this is week I searched online for some bedroom furniture and one of the sites I looked at was oakfurniture.  Ever since, googleads have been serving me ads from the oakfurniture site.

I know you have an ad blocker, but google knows everything and still does it in the background.  ???Before you mentioned petnet I hadn't really heard of them, nor have I ever been served any of their ads.

I only tried to visit it after the first time I seen it on here, and it failed to load.

I've just seen petnet raise its head again when I was accessing Eric thread about the DSLStats beta version. Could it be someone's signature line in that thread?

I don't know, but I'll try to find out. The same thing happened to me a few minutes ago.

[Later] No, there's nothing of that nature. But I do see that petnet (whatever it is) is down at the moment: http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/petnet.co.uk (http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/petnet.co.uk)

Im afraid I cant get it to show despite trying to refresh that thread numerous times.

Ive just been to the sites google adsense control and can confirm that there is a block on www_petnet_co_uk so Ive no idea how its getting through.
Ive just added another block as an afterthought on http_petnet_co_uk    (urls deliberately obscured)
