Laptop With No Operating System On.
I got one on these   http://www.ebuyer.com/468931-zoostorm-pink-laptop-7873-9043
Which is a 'Clevo' as sold by 'PC-Specialist' for £110 more  >:D
I put on PCLinuxOS 64Bit 2013.12 KDE up-graded  to kernel-3.10.25
All works well now, very fast, few problems with WiFi but that's sorted now, web cam ok.

Thats great to know.... I've sorted my webcam now as well. I put it on a hub which is switchable between PCs and now it works on all of them - go figure.... the one on the laptop works as well in Linux so now I can plan to move to 64bit on desktop and laptop.

Had a few problems with the WiFi dropping out  :( did not improve after several days of work on it . >:D
What I did was to put in another wireless card a 'Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230' at £8.40 uk price, A few minutes job to do it on this laptop.
No problems now

I am about to move my Acer laptop to Linux from W7 so will check the wi-fi card in it, however it has been pretty good on W7 so should be OK.

My main reason for ditching W7 is that being 2 years old now it seems to have slowed down and I suspect it could do with a re-install which like XP in my experience usually speeds things up. My other problem is the lack of good photo handling software, I dont mean edit I mean album management, at a sensible price. Nothing to my mind comes close to Digikam under Linux (yes I know there is a Windows version but it is huge because it is not written natively for Windows). Since my wife mainly uses the lappy I can set it up so she really does not notice the difference using KDE desktop with LibreOffice, Thunderbird and Firefox, the only thing she will have to learn is Digikam.

It's an Acer Aspire (5742 model) with an I5 processor. Boots fine of Fedora Live 64bit and finds both land and wi-fi card OK, plus the tackpad is detected correctly so all loks good for the move over.

Just another update to say even with the new WiFi card in it was still dropping out more, so now I have fitted one of these Atheros AR5B195 AR9285 AR3011 WiFi WLAN Bluetooth 3.0 Combo Half Mini PCIE -W004
at £8.95 Ebay.  ;)
Both the Bluetooth and WiFi have worked well with not dropping out once.
