Title: Returned emails
Post by: JGO on November 25, 2013, 12:10:38 PM
Have ISP largely abandoned returns ?  We seem to be getting more sent emails which drop into a black hole of late.   OK increasing spam ?

Well I dont use my ISP for email normally, I do have an email account with them but dont really use it. My mail emails are handled by my hosting company which works very well and has good spam control. I do get emails returned as undeliverable on occasions and usually for very good reasons but it is very few. I am not aware of any of mine going into a black hole, just a few times when my hosting company server gets on a black list some come back but it gets sorted very quickly.

I'm in the same position as Stuart - I use the email service provided by my hosting comnpany, and the only undeliverable reports I get are for genuine reasons. I'm not aware of any emails getting lost now, but I did have some lost incoming mail when I was using 123-reg, and they added spam checking to their email forwarding system. When the spam checker detected what it thought was spam, the email in question was just dumped and lost for ever. >:(
