Has anyone ever used AIDA32? If so you will know about how useful of a tool it was. (suite of tools).
Its not just a benchmarker, its extremely useful for finding hidden system files, drivers and finds things in your system that you may not easily find elsewhere without trawling through the registry.

As my PC is now a year old and Ive just discovered an orphan startup item in msconfig I thought Id do a sweep up.
Whilst aida32 is free, the cheapest aida 64 bit version is £40 and a bit steep for something I only use on the odd occasion.
Anyone know of a similar free program for 64bit windows please that they can recommend?

Ive found a link for a 30 day trial, but it says its a limited version.
I dont know how 'limited' it is though. Probably it will run, but not let you do any of the useful stuff
May install it in a bit and do a sweep anyhow.

Have you looked at SiSoft Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/)? There is a free version and the first commercial one is $50 (USD). Never used AIDA so have no idea if this is really equivalent.
