Title: Expected down time 12/10/2013
Post by: kitz on October 12, 2013, 05:13:50 PM
Expect disruptions to service this evening whilst work is completed to migrate to a new server.

I cant say exactly how long it will take as some of it depends upon DNS propagation which varies between differing ISPs.  Some of the time will be me, but if all goes well, then the rest will be down to DNS changes which I have no control over.  If DNS is attempted tonight, then it may be tomorrow morning before you see the forum open again.

Forums & wiki are live on the new server.

Just completed main site, but rather strangely the DNS doesnt appear to have propagated for that yet.

Thanks all seems to have propagated eventually.

I got tapatalk working again, but there are issues with the tapatalk install and integration with SMF (who no longer support it).  During my searches I found that some VBulletin forums will only support it in its most basic form.   It can actually be quite hungry on server resources and slow things down.  Since this is our own server I will see how it goes.  Im also not going to let it have some of the permissions it says it wants either as this may well have been part of the cause why things went pete tongue on the old server.  The theory behind tapatalk is good, but first and foremost is security.

SFS is also re-installed but I believe they too have been having server issues with the plug-in, so its not managing to catch all and manual intervention may be required.

heh..  still got quite a few unread posts that Im trying to catch up on, and still lots of little tweaks to do which can wait for another day.
Dont know where the weekend went to.  Cant believe its Monday already!

My kittehs are sane & already curled up fast asleep next to me and the pc...  so I may just follow their example and head to bed.  :)
