Downloaded a program which surreptitiously added Delta search, which overruled Google search.
So far I have taken these steps
1. Uninstalled program using vsRevo Uninstaller in advanced mode
2. In registry searched and deleted anything of the program and Deltasearch.
3. In ZA application control changed any entry to kill.
4. In ZA set the IP address to blocked.
5. Restarted computer
Despite all this, if I click on the home icon in Chrome. say to access maps, Deltasearch rears its head in the address bar

Help, why can't I get rid of the bally thing?

I saw a similar thing on an XP machine running Firefox a few months back - uninstalling the Delta Search stopped it being the default search engine etc, but it would still pop up when you opened a new tab.
This describes what you need to do to get rid of it
http://deletemalware.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/remove-delta-searchcom-redirect-delta.html (http://deletemalware.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/remove-delta-searchcom-redirect-delta.html)
though I wouldn't download the malware removal program they recommened, I've no idea what it is. But the instructions towards the bottom of the page, regarding changing various settings in Chrome, look sound and ought to get rid of it for you.
One anti-malware program I would recommend is malwarebytes, which you can get for free from here http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/malwarebytes_anti_malware.html (http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/malwarebytes_anti_malware.html) without ie being wrapped in further adware!
(near the end of the install, just untick the "I want the trial" box and it's free without nagging you.)
Hope this helps

One I've found is http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-delta-search/ (http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-delta-search/) which seems to have instructions rather than any removal software.
