Title: Win 7 - Home v Public Network
Post by: Bayardo on April 06, 2012, 12:10:32 AM
I have set my network to "home" on my router. I have just set my TP-Link Access Point up again as the signal from my router
tends to fluctuate a bit too much.

However, as soon as it was up & running it defaulted to a "public" network without giving me any chance to set it to "home".
There is then no internet access via the TP-Link.
A home network does allow amendment to work or public, but there is no similar option to change a public network.

I could do a factory reset & re-install but I imagine that it could keep defaulting to "public".

Does anyone know of any way of changing it please.

Thanks
Bayardo

You will need to set up the network as Workgroup or MSHOME on the PC first you will find this at control panel / system and look at Workgroup settings then access network & file sharing and change the network to private.

make sure network discovery is ticked & file sharing also public folder sharing is also ticked
